Inbetween: Review of Let The Right One In

Twelve-year-old Oskar is an outsider; bullied at school, dreaming about hit absentee father, bored with life on a dreary housing estate. One evening he meets the mysterious Eli. As a romance blossoms between them, Oskar discovers Eli's dark secret - she is a 200-year-old vampire, forever frozen in childhood, and condemned to live on a diet of fresh blood. Let the right one in is an amazing story about friendship evolving in the most unnatural circumstances and an interesting take on a theme already told in so many ways.

The atmosphere Lindqvist places the story in is chilling and at the same time heartwarming. How that in the face of violence, cold and the numbness of the residents, there's still enough room for hope to grow. Hope to live or even the hope it will soon end.

The author has been compared with Stephen King, as many have been before, but in my opinion it's too soon to be crowning him the new King, but his writing style, the trangression between the different characters is familiar to those who've read a lot of Stephen King. You can tell he's been a good student, he yields it well and keeps you hanging on by various threads.

In short, a very good story.

I'm giving this a 8,5 out of 10.
